Automating Shopify content through AI

The Opportunity

As a Shopify Partner, I was approached by a new client with a clear challenge: optimize and enrich their product catalog—over 6,000 products—within their Shopify store. Manual updates were not scalable, so we needed a smart, automated solution. The key driver became generating compelling, keyword-rich product descriptions at scale, which laid the foundation for a broader automation initiative.

The Solution

Leveraging the powerful Shopify Admin API and the platform’s flexible app ecosystem, we built a custom Shopify app tailored to the client’s specific needs. The app integrates directly with their store and enables efficient bulk management of product descriptions using AI-generated content. To support international growth, we extended the functionality to include automated translations, making the store multi-market compatible out of the box.

The tech stack includes:

• Node.js backend with Shopify API integration
• GraphQL for efficient data querying
• Custom AI modules for smart description generation
• Localization support for multilingual content
• Shopify Polaris for a native, embedded app UI
